process such purchases and collect money for sales from customers by making use of the relevant tools provided by the store to out this role&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Customer Service Orientation<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Maintaining professional conduct all times when servicing customers<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Having knowledge of the current in store promotions and the stores product offering at all times<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Communicate to customers<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Guide and assist in solving customer queries relative to the cashier&&num;8217&semi;s role by directing the customers to management or the relevant person that will be able to assist in resolution&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Processing Sales<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Establish or identify prices of goods and calculate the total amount due by the customer by using the cash registers and price scanners provided for the cashier&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Operating the cash register&sol;computer&comma; scanner and credit card facilities correctly&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Collecting the correct amount of money due by the customer in exchange for goods and ensuring to tender the correct amount of change in cash dealings<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Issue receipts or till slips<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Having full knowledge of how to assist in redeeming gift cards or reward cards e&period;g eBucks<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Following the correct procedures when errors are made during the processing of sales &&num;8211&semi; escalate to supervisor<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Follow store procedures regarding cashing up and cash float<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Cashier to take all their cash and cheques to cash bank for full cash up at the end of the shift<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Check and record totals of all denominations and methods of payment&comma; ensure the correctness of postdated cheques and check for other errors on cheques as these cannot be banked&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>If cash register is full&comma; ensure to follow procedure and take cash to the cash bank&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Housekeeping<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Maintain a clean and orderly work bench at all times<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Ensure no unsafe or unnecessary items are on the work bench when servicing customers<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Report any breach of safety conditions to the relevant manager or security<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Shrinkage<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Demonstrate consistent application of internal policies and procedures<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Escalate identified problems regarding shrinkage to relevant manager or security<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Report suspicious occurrences or  &lpar;people and customers&rpar; to management and security personnel<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Be aware of high shrinkage and high value items<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Matric &sol;
