<p><strong>Requirements :</strong></p>
<p><strong>Matric/ an NQF level 4 qualification plus 1-year experience in Community Development Work. Competencies: Knowledge and understanding of community dynamics, community activation (mobilisation), ward boundaries, social awareness, community education, public participation and community development; Knowledge of government regulations and policies including but not limited to: Batho Pele Principles; Community Based Planning, active citizenry, citizen relationship management and understanding of ward based stakeholders; </strong></p>

<p><strong>Knowledge of the dynamics, culture and language of the target community and candidates must reside in the ward where the vacancy is listed; Analytical Skills; Communication skills; Computer Skills; Facilitation skills; Problem solving skills; Organisational skills; Report Writing skills; Secretariat skills; performance and development management skills; Public participation skills and public relations skills; Monitoring and evaluation skills; Project initiation skills; Team work. <p><strong>Duties :</strong></p>
<p><strong>Conduct needs and assets analysis through community consultations and engagements; Monitor and report significant trends within communities related to health, social development, and livelihood security as well as the impact of associated development projects; Compile accurate environmental scans; Identify and present to the Assistant Director proper records/data of households, cases referred, and service points visited in line with the work plans and performance contracts agreed upon; </strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Develop and maintain a database (electronic or hard copy) on all interventions e.g. referrals, remedial actions taken or changes in systems to improve service delivery; Report on outcomes and issues escalated; Present daily and weekly performance reports to the Assistant Director within agreed timelines; Conduct regular research on all relevant policies and legislation to stay abreast of new developments; Consult and participate with the Gateway electronic portal and other information sources such as Government Online for information on services and opportunities; Conduct regular information sharing sessions with other community workers, institutions and stakeholders; Initiate networks with government departments and agencies, and other community development stakeholders to source relevant information; Contribute towards the strengthening of Inter-government collaboration; </strong></p>
<p><strong>Liaise with local communities and stakeholders for improved service delivery and development; Link up with existing programmes of various departments and community workers and practitioners; Participate on planned public participation initiatives (IDP, Ward Committees, Feedback Meetings, Ntirhisano etc); Cooperate with government departments to plan in accordance to community asset and needs; Participate in ward based planning structures for the implementation of government programmes and activities and report on functionality of ward based plans; Activate individuals, communities and structures to participate in localised democratic processes; </strong></p>

<p><strong>Apply the ABCD as a technique to trigger community-led development; Initiate and support community asset profiling; Identify community assets and categorise them according to support required; Identify, monitor and support the existing local projects and programmes on sustainable community development and identify support required; Provide a progress report on socio-economic activities initiated and supported; Report any irregularities and progress to the authorities and CoGTA; Disseminate information to communities on services rendered by government departments and other stakeholders for sustainable developmental purposes; Inform government of community challenges, trends and early warning on matters that may lead to unrests.</strong></p>
