<p><strong>The South African Library for the Blind (SALB) invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for an Internship Programme for a period of 12 months (2024 /2025)</strong></p>

<strong>Stipend: R7 157.25 per month</strong><br />
<strong>Duration: 12 Months Contract</strong><br />
<strong>Location: Makhanda (Grahamstown), Eastern Cape</strong><br />

<p><strong>Internship Programme</strong><br />
<strong>Visually Impaired Graduates</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>The Internship Programme seeks to provide an internship opportunity to visually impaired individuals who passed a relevant N6 qualification, a National Diploma, or a Degree at a SAQA accredited Tertiary Institute, through which such Interns may gain work exposure and experience within their field of study that aligns to the respective work disciplines within the SALB.</strong></p>

<p><strong>In terms of the roll-out of Phase 1, interest is hereby invited from visually impaired (legally blind or diagnosed low vision) South African Citizens who meet the relevant minimum requirements for a 12-month Internship Programme in one of the following disciplines:</strong></p>

<p><strong>Human Resource Management</strong><br />
<strong>Office Administration / Secretarial</strong><br />
<strong>Business Administration /Management</strong><br />
<strong>Information Technology</strong><br />
<strong>Library and Information Science</strong><br />
<strong>Marketing / Public Relations</strong><br />
<strong>Finance / Accounting</strong><br />
<strong>Supply Chain Management</strong><br />
<strong>Public Administration</strong></p>
<p><strong>Minimum Requirements</strong><br />
<strong>To be considered for the Internship Programme, candidates must:Hold a minimum of an N6 qualification relevant to one of the disciplines mentioned above.</strong><br />
<strong>Be computer literate at an intermediate level in the MS Office suite.</strong><br />
<strong>Be legally blind or diagnosed with low vision. Proof of such legal blindness or diagnosed low vision from an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist on the requisite DBE126 form will be required.</strong><br />
<strong>Be a South African Citizen.</strong><br />
<strong>Be fluent in English as the business language.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Be willing and able to travel independently to and from the workplace and home on a daily basis at the one’s own cost (the incumbent’s cost)</strong><br />
<strong>Reside in the province (Eastern Cape in this instance) where the internship placements may bem</strong><br />
<strong>Have good interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain good relations with co-workers.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Visual Impairment in relation to this process means legally blind or diagnosed with severe low vision by a relevant registered medical practitioner (Optometrist or Ophthalmologist) on a DBE126 form. The form is available from SALB HR on request if not available from your optometrist or ophthalmologist.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Submissions from youth meeting the requirements are encouraged so as to support national drives at developing and employing youth.</strong></p>
<p><strong>All certificate and supporting documents must be certified within the last three months.</strong></p>
<p><strong>SALB reserves the right to not to fill all the opportunities, or to stagger the placement of Interns to best roll-out the program.</strong></p>
