<p><strong>The Health Systems Trust (HST) is committed to an equitable healthcare system that recognises basic socio-economic needs as an important determinant of health outcomes. We are implementing a prospective study to establish a Pregnancy Exposure Registry (PER) which incorporates routine antenatal and perinatal data gathered using a sentinel approach and pooled from individual registries across three provinces in South Africa, namely Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.</strong></p>

<p><strong>HST seeks to appoint a Data Capturer to support the PER Project. The incumbent will be responsible for recruiting and enrolling pregnant women who consent to be part of the PER Project. The incumbent will also capture data from the Maternal Case Records (MCR) and the Facility Health Records at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital (PMMH) and its three feeder clinics into the KwaZulu-Natal PER database, and will participate in data-cleaning and query resolution.</strong></p>

<h3 class="ms-rteElement-H3B"><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li><strong>Manage the flow of project data and the filing system, while ensuring the confidentiality of patients&#8217; records.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Capture baseline and follow-up visits of all pregnant women who are booked at the participating sentinel clinics from the MCR and facility-held records.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Accurate history-taking in terms of drug use, prescribed and/or self-medicated medicines (including traditional medicine), and vaccines during pregnancy, and capture thereof into the PER database.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Generate a list of patients with early and late missed appointments.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Capture all the PER outcomes in terms of live births and still births as well as babies with congenital disorders.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Participate in monthly internal data quality assessments.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Participate in project data analysis (targets, tracer indicators, cascades).</strong></li>
<li><strong>Submit daily, weekly and monthly data reports as required.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Participate in the project&#8217;s monthly and quarterly review meetings.</strong></li>

<li><strong>Two to three years&#8217; experience in data-capturing or administration.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Experience in a healthcare environment.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Thoroughness, with good attention to detail.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Sound administrative skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and database packages.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Knowledge of the data management standard operating procedures.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Previous work experience in a non-governmental environment or funded programmes would be an advantage.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Fluency in English and isiZulu.</strong></li>
