<p><strong>Duties and responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Cleaning of laboratories</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean equipment, bench tops, shelves and outside of fridges and freezers.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Sweep, mop and scrub the floors.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Empty the dust/refuse bins.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Fill containers with distilled water.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Wash everything that students did not clean.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Wash floors and wipe shelves of walk-in fridge.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Vacuum and dust the presentation room.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Creative lab</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean all benches and chairs.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Empty the dustbins.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Mop the floor.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Arrange tables in the correct format for the lecturer.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Prepare the lab for training sessions, classes and seminars.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean up after the completion of sessions.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Sensory lab</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Requires daily cleaning, depending on the number of sensory tests conducted each week.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean different booths.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean and mop floors.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Dusting of shelves.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Cleaning, dusting and vacuuming of the sensory training area.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Vegetable lab</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean at least once a week.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Wash surfaces.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Mop floors.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Remove the waste.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Office cleaning</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean six offices once a week, including the lecture rooms in the Department.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Adhoc duties</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Execute any other task, as deemed necessary by the supervisor and/or staff member, that is officially legal and lawful according to the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the UFS, as well as the general job description of a service worker.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Technical assistance in laboratories</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Assist with practical sessions taking place 6 times a week.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Fill soap, detergent and other product bottles</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Wash all the dishcloths used by students- daily due to the frequency of practicals.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean labs – floors and countertops, 44 spaces.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Scrub and clean oven and stoves.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Clean each lab after each session to uphold cleanliness and food safety.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Regularly clean inside and outside of microwaves and fridges.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Waste management assistance</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Take out garbage daily.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Inherent requirements:</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Grade 10 on NQF Level 2.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Relevant experience related to the duties and responsibilities.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Recommendations:</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Knowledge of a food laboratory.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Knowledge of the importance of cleaning in the laboratories.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Competencies</strong></p>
