A Forklift Operator is a professional who is responsible for moving pallets around warehouse. They do this by using a forklift to load, unload and transfer pallets from trucks and containers for storage purposes throughout a warehouse</strong></p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Daily Forklift Operation:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Safely operate forklifts to transport pallets within the facility, from receiving areas to storage locations and loading docks.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Load and unload pallets from delivery trucks and containers.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Ensure proper handling of fruit pallets to prevent damage and maintain quality.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies to the supervisor team. </strong></p>
<p><strong>Assist in inventory tracking by scanning and recording pallet movements using warehouse management systems (WMS).</strong></p>
<p><strong>Quality Control &; Compliance:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).</strong></p>
<p><strong>Conduct and complete daily inspections and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Maintain high standards of housekeeping. </strong></p>
<p><strong>Ensure doors to the cold storage remain closed when not in use to maintain temperature integrity.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Team Collaboration:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Coordinate with warehouse staff, quality control teams, and drivers to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Assist with general warehouse duties as needed.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Qualifications &; Experience:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Education:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Relevant certifications (Forklift Certification)</strong></p>
<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Minimum of 1-5 years of operating experience, preferably in a cold storage environment.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Experience in the fruit export industry is preferred.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Skills &; Competencies:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Effective communication and teamwork skills.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Ability to operate warehouse management systems (WMS) or scanners.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Strong attention to detail and accuracy.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Being able to follow instructions accurately and in a timely manner is important</strong></p>
<p><strong>Ability to read and understand despatch and receiving documents, and safety guidelines.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Excellent hand-eye coordination and peripheral vision.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Efficient individual with excellent time management skills</strong></p>
<p><strong>Working Conditions</strong></p>
<p><strong>The role requires working in a cold storage environment</strong></p>
<p><strong>Ability to perform manual labour and work with heavy equipment.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Some flexibility in working hours will be needed to accommodate the nature of the fruit industry.</strong></p>
