<p><strong>JOB SUMMARY</strong></p>
<p><strong>As the Payroll Clerk, you will be required to analyse, administer and maintain the payroll function and its activities as required by the Financial Management of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures Act (FMPPLA) and the relevant policies and procedures of Parliament.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Payroll Administration and maintenance</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Receive requests to update/change, analyse the requests to ensure authorisation</strong></li>
<li><strong>Analyse requests for Members’/Staff salary increases and implement requests</strong></li>
<li><strong>Process journal entries</strong></li>
<li><strong>Administer and ensure pay runs are executed without errors</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Processing and payment of salaries/salary-related payments to third parties</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>After HR has completed their processing, submit the pay run</strong></li>
<li><strong>Review the pay run for completeness and check for errors</strong></li>
<li><strong>Run the ACB (Automated Clearing Bureau) report and Gross to Nett Summary report</strong></li>
<li><strong>Prepare final payroll</strong></li>
<li><strong>Prepare and email third party schedules pension, medial aid, insurance, etc.</strong></li>
<li><strong>Prepare payment vouchers</strong></li>
<li><strong>Clear the control account with regards to these payments in the next pay run</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Support Services</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Receive queries</strong></li>
<li><strong>Analyse and investigate information</strong></li>
<li><strong>Provide advice on salary and tax matters</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Reconciliations and reporting</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Generate payroll reports</strong></li>
<li><strong>Analyse reports for discrepancies</strong></li>
<li><strong>Implement corrective action</strong></li>
<li><strong>Prepare payroll reconciliations &; tax reconciliations and provide to Supervisor for review</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>TO QUALIFY, YOU MUST HAVE: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>be in possession of a National Diploma in Finance/Accounting or related qualification (NQF Level 6)</strong></li>
<li><strong>have three (3) years’ relevant experience</strong></li>
</ul>

<p><strong>You must also demonstrate:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Knowledge of Parliamentary policies, systems and procedures</strong></li>
<li><strong>Knowledge and understanding of the FMPPLA and the relevant financial and accounting guidelines, principles and procedures</strong></li>
<li><strong>Sound written and verbal communication skills</strong></li>
<li><strong>Ability to organise information, strong attention to detail and accuracy</strong></li>
<li><strong>Ability to easily adapt to the changing work environment and work under pressure</strong></li>
<li><strong>Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Payroll Software (preferably Oracle)</strong></li>
</ul>
