Job Summary
As an Admin Assistant – Psychiatric, you will play a vital role in ensuring that administrative operations run smoothly within the psychiatric unit. You will work closely with clinical staff, patients, families, and other departments to support the mental health care services delivered at the facility. This role combines front-desk responsibilities, documentation, communication, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities

Welcome and assist patients, visitors, and caregivers with professionalism and empathy.

Capture and update patient information accurately in the admin systems.

Prepare and maintain administrative records, reports, and files.

Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharge processes.

Manage telephonic and email enquiries.

Coordinate appointments with clinical and treatment teams.

Assist with basic billing queries and patient documentation tracking.
These duties are aligned with those seen in other Mediclinic administrative roles where admin assistants provide patient admin, reception and support services within clinical units.
Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) qualification with proficiency in computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

A calm, structured approach with the ability to manage confidential information professionally.

Previous experience in healthcare or administrative support is beneficial but not always required.
