<p><strong>Are you a young individual ready to kick-start your career in water treatment? We are excited to announce a Water Plant Operator Assistant position as part of the YES Youth Initiative! This is your chance to gain hands-on experience while contributing to the production of high-quality water.</strong></p>
<p><strong>To be eligible for this opportunity candidates should be unemployed and between 18 and 34 years old</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<p><strong>NQF Level 4 or similar</strong></p>
<p><strong>Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science</strong></p>
<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>
<p><strong>None to minimal experience required. Adherence to YES programme requirements is essential.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Knowledge:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Thorough understanding of water plant operations and daily tasks.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Key Performance Areas:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Plant production</strong></p>
<p><strong>Personal safety</strong></p>
<p><strong>Plant housekeeping</strong></p>
<p><strong>Data and log sheet quality</strong></p>
<p><strong>Sampling and test work with accurate results</strong></p>
<p><strong>Instrumentation management</strong></p>
<p><strong>Effective communication and availability</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Always wear the correct PPE.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Complete all tasks safely, adhering to Mine Health and Safety Regulations.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Conduct daily risk assessments and ensure proper documentation.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Work odd shifts as required by the process engineer and site supervisor.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Perform necessary tasks to ensure high-quality water production.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Report any issues, incidents, or problems observed during shifts.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Assist with sampling and analysis as directed by the supervisor.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Record analysis data and meter readings on log sheets and Waterbizz daily.</strong></p>
<p> ;</p>
<p><strong>Handle chemicals including biocide, caustic, hypo, and acids safely.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Maintain cleanliness in the work area and uphold housekeeping standards.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Assist with daily and weekly probe calibration for accurate results.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Collaborate with maintenance teams during downtime.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Follow all additional duties assigned by the site supervisor or engineer.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Aid the operator in performing CIP washes on UF modules and RO membranes.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Participate in standby duties, including weekends and callouts.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Special Functions:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Show competency with computers and a willingness to learn, including Excel and Waterbizz.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Always be available for communication.</strong></p>
