About the Security Officer Role

As a Security Officer at G4S, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping protect people, property, buildings, equipment and other assets. Security officers may work at different types of premises, including building sites, courts, shops, warehouses, banks, factories, ports and airports.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform a range of security-related duties, including access control, patrols, surveillance, incident response and reporting.

Access Control

Security Officers will control entry and exit points and verify the identities and authorization of people and vehicles entering or leaving the premises.

Responsibilities may include maintaining accurate visitor, contractor and vehicle records, issuing visitor passes and ensuring that passes are used correctly.

Patrolling and Surveillance

Client and Public Interaction

Customer service is also an important part of the position. Security Officers may assist clients, employees and visitors with security-related concerns, directions or general information.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Valid and current PSIRA Grade C registration is mandatory.
• Previous security experience will be an advantage.
• Experience in a corporate, industrial or commercial security environment will be beneficial.
• Grade 12 is preferred.
• Aviation Security Training is listed as a requirement.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent observation and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to assess situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
• A clean criminal record is essential.
