Minimum Admission Requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens who reside in Gauteng Province and completed their matriculation in the province.

1. Senior Certificate (Standard 10)
Applicants with a Senior Certificate must have the following:
- English: Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C
- Biology: Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C
- Mathematics: Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C
- An M score of at least 17
2. National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
Applicants with a National Senior Certificate must meet these requirements:
- English: Level 4
- Life Sciences: Level 4
- Mathematics: Level 4 or Mathematical Literacy: Level 5
- Admission Point Score (APS): At least 27
Life Orientation contributes exactly half of its level to the APS calculation, without rounding.
3. National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4
Applicants with an NC(V) Level 4 certificate must achieve:
At least 50% in fundamental subjects:
- English First Additional Language
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
- Life Orientation
At least 60% in vocational subjects:
- SA Health Care System
- Public Health
- The Human Body and Mind
- Community Oriented Primary Care

Assessment and Selection Process
Shortlisted applicants must undergo a compulsory psychometric assessment. Candidates who successfully complete this assessment will be required to undergo medical surveillance and verification of their documents.
Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee selection. The department reserves the right to verify applicants’ eligibility through official records and disqualify candidates who do not meet the requirements.
Who Will Not Be Considered?
Applicants who are receiving bursaries, scholarships, financial assistance or funding from government departments, provincial governments, public entities or state-funded schemes, including NSFAS, for tertiary, higher education or vocational studies will not be considered.
Individuals already enrolled at a university, university of technology, TVET college, nursing college or another tertiary institution will also not be considered. This includes full-time, part-time and distance-learning students.
