<p><strong>Job Description</strong></p>
<p><strong>RCL Foods is recruiting for a driven, highly energized and customer focused Code 10 Driver Salesman within the baking business unit.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The suitable candidate will be responsible to performs tasks / activities associated with the transportation and sales of bread and confectionary. Calling on customers (traders and retail chain stores), taking orders and delivering mainly from vehicle -frequently for cash and new customer acquisition.</strong></p>
<p><strong>This role will be based in Empangeni and reporting to the Distribution Manager.</strong></p>
<p><strong>This role is a Permanent role.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Minimum Requirements</strong></p>
<p><strong>Education</strong></p>
<p><strong>Grade 12, valid Driver’s License and v a l i d PDP.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Skills</strong></p>
<p><strong>Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Good numeracy</strong></p>
<p><strong>Experience</strong></p>
<p><strong>Min 2 years driving experience working in FMCG. Experience in delivering</strong></p>
<p><strong>and selling FMCG product for cash to existing and new customers.</strong></p>
<p><strong>General</strong></p>
<p><strong>To maintain a valid Driver’s Licence and valid PDP</strong></p>
<p><strong>Expected to work over weekends and public holidays</strong></p>
<p><strong>Expected to work overtime as required</strong></p>
<p><strong>Expected to be on stand by and to come in to assist in the event of driver absenteeism.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Duties &; Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p><strong>Dress and Vehicle Duties</strong></p>
<p><strong>a) Maintain a clean vehicle to ensure high levels of hygiene standards at all times.</strong></p>
<p><strong>b) Wear and make use of the prescribed PPE clothing and equipment.</strong></p>
<p><strong>c) Ensure driving compartment is clean and safe according to requirements for a work station in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act</strong></p>
<p><strong>d) Checks his vehicle according to the checklist specified by the company</strong></p>
<p><strong>e) Enter any faults onto the checklist.</strong></p>
<p><strong>f) Sign the checklist as acknowledgement of the vehicle condition</strong></p>
<p><strong>g) Faults of a serious nature to be reported to the supervisor and the vehicle to be sent immediately to the workshop</strong></p>
<p><strong>h) Arrange a replacement vehicle if the repair will take a longer time to repair</strong></p>
<p><strong>i) Adherence to the statutory rules of the road, thereby ensuring the safety of himself, his passengers and other road user vehicles.</strong></p>
<p><strong>j) Immediately report any theft of vehicle, fuel or equipment or damage to vehicle to Logistics Manager</strong></p>
<p><strong>k) Immediately report damage to third party vehicles or property to Logistics Manager</strong></p>
<p><strong>l) Accidents must be handled in terms of the company laid-down procedures for damage, injuries and death</strong></p>
<p><strong>Stock and Loading</strong></p>
<p><strong>a) Check that actual stock loaded matches the orders placed.</strong></p>
<p><strong>b) Discrepancies are noted and brought to the immediate attention of the Route Controller</strong></p>
<p><strong>c) Once satisfied that the load is accurate, the driver to sign acceptance of the stock i.e., Loading Sheet</strong></p>
<p><strong>d) Check number of crates on load and sign acknowledgement of amount that must be returned</strong></p>
<p><strong>e) Check that vehicle has been safely loaded to ensure road safety is not compromised</strong></p>
<p><strong>f) Inspect quality of stock being loaded and report any problems immediately to the relevant authority</strong></p>
<p><strong>g) If no choice but to proceed with delivery of substandard stock, customer to be made aware of this fact</strong></p>
<p><strong>and not force customer to purchase the goods.</strong></p>
<p><strong>h) Driver to assist with loading as and when required</strong></p>
<p><strong>Van Assistants</strong></p>
<p><strong>a) Driver to take responsibility for and supervise van assistant</strong></p>
<p><strong>b) Ensure van assistant is present at work and if not, arrange a replacement through the correct procedure</strong></p>
<p><strong>c) Ensure van assistant is presentable and deals with customers appropriately</strong></p>
<p><strong>d) Train and coach van assistant to ensure he is meeting company standards</strong></p>
<p><strong>e) Report performance problems with van assistant to the Route Controller/Supervisor</strong></p>
<p><strong>f) Create a harmonious working relationship with the van assistant</strong></p>
<p><strong>Sales and Customers</strong></p>
<p><strong>a) Always be friendly, helpful and respectful towards customers</strong></p>
<p><strong>b) Look for opportunities to increase daily sales by increasing sales to current customers and by gaining more customers</strong></p>
<p><strong>c) If potential new sales area, driver to report to supervisor and sales manager to investigate further</strong></p>
<p><strong>d) Any potential or actual customer losses to be reported to supervisor. Every attempt to be made to win</strong></p>
<p><strong>back the customer and to supply market info. Be proactive on the route</strong></p>
<p><strong>e) Report any issues that may affect company service levels such as serious delays, difficult unloading</strong></p>
<p><strong>conditions or other such problems</strong></p>
<p><strong>f) Driver liaises with customers weekly to ensure that customer service levels are maintained and that customers are retained on their routes.</strong></p>
<p><strong>g) Driver to implement promotions with customers as and when required.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Deliveries</strong></p>
<p><strong>a) Driver to ensure that the stock delivered to customer is according to the customer’s order</strong></p>
<p><strong>b) Where sales are being exceeded against orders, the driver to be aware of stock levels at all times to</strong></p>
<p><strong>ensure all customers on the route are supplied with their order</strong></p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p><strong>c) If sales exceed actual amounts on truck, arrangements to be made via cell phone for replenishment of stock, either by means of an alternative vehicle or by returning to the bakery</strong></p>
<p><strong>d) Should further stock not be available, apologize to customers that are short-delivered</strong></p>
<p><strong>e) All customers to receive their order but where this is not possible, at least some of their order</strong></p>
<p><strong>f) Secure orders for the following day’s delivery and give the orders timeously to the sales department</strong></p>
<p><strong>g) Ensure all crates delivered, are recovered and returned to Sunshine Bakery premises on the same day</strong></p>
<p><strong>h) Driver to deliver or collect other items/products to or from customers</strong></p>
<p><strong>i) Collect finished products from other bakeries/drivers and delivering to the customer when there is a breakdown</strong></p>
<p><strong>j) Transporting personnel, material and equipment to / from specific locations</strong></p>
<p><strong>k) Perform crate recovery to monitor and minimise crate loses.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Transactional Duties</strong></p>
<p><strong>a) Secure and safeguard cash, paperwork and company stock. Make use of vehicle safe at all times</strong></p>
<p><strong>b) Immediately deposit cash in vehicle safe on receipt of it</strong></p>
<p><strong>c) Be vigilant in regard to counterfeit notes or fraudulent activities</strong></p>
<p><strong>d) Be aware of possible robbery attempts and driver to take necessary precautions to avoid risk</strong></p>
<p><strong>e) Accurately complete and /or handle transactional documentation. These include but are not limited to</strong></p>
<p><strong>invoices, delivery notes, loading schedules, crate control documents, vehicle log sheet, petrol slips,</strong></p>
<p><strong>vehicle check lists, and other related forms</strong></p>
<p><strong>f) Checking and inserting the relevant information (quantitative/ qualitative) details of activities.</strong></p>
<p><strong>g) Forwarding of all documentation to the relevant personnel / departments for processing and ensuring</strong></p>
<p><strong>all monies and loafage is accounted for</strong></p>
<p><strong>h) Accurate recording of the route data</strong></p>
<p><strong>i) Selling bread at the authorised price.</strong></p>
<p><strong>j) Invoices raised of delivery quantity to match cash received and other paperwork such as ‘to pay’ or ‘bread on truck’</strong></p>
<p><strong>k) Cash ups to be completed by the driver, in the presence of the supervisor, on return from a route</strong></p>
<p><strong>l) Cash to be dropped immediately to minimize company risk</strong></p>
<p><strong>m) All monies or paperwork to balance so that stock sold balances with cash received</strong></p>
<p><strong>n) Driver to sign for shortages within 24 hours</strong></p>
<p><strong>o) Driver to investigate shortage within further 24 hours</strong></p>
<p><strong>Product/Service Competitor Analysis</strong></p>
<p><strong>a) Collect competitor sales / customer information</strong></p>
<p><strong>b) Collect competitor product information</strong></p>
<p><strong>c) Obtain competitor products</strong></p>

<p><strong>General</strong></p>
<p><strong>a) Drivers may be required to assist in any aspect of the business from time to time as required. In</strong></p>
<p><strong>particular, drivers may be required to perform the duties of van assistant or loader.</strong></p>
<p><strong>b) Comply with health and safety standards in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act</strong></p>
