Overview
This announcement pertains to the recruitment of 50 Fire Fighters on a fixed-term contract to join a dedicated wildland fire-fighting team. Purpose
The primary objective of the role is to contribute to a professional wildland fire-fighting team tasked with:

Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will undertake the following duties:
Fire-Fighting Operations:
Perform direct and indirect fire attack methods to combat wildfires.
Conduct mop-up operations to ensure fires are fully extinguished.
Maintain observation posts to monitor fire activity and report changes.
Fire Prevention Activities:
Clear alien vegetation to reduce fire fuel loads.
Set up irrigation systems to support fire prevention efforts.
Educate the public on fire safety and prevention practices.
Equipment Maintenance:
Operate and maintain fire-fighting tools, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational readiness.
Training and Development:
Attend mandatory training sessions to maintain and enhance required competencies.
Physical Fitness:
Maintain a high level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the role.
Shift Work:
Participate in standby shifts as per the assigned schedule to ensure round-the-clock readiness.
Essential Requirements
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Be a South African citizen aged 18 years or older.
Be available for shift work and standby duties, including weekends and public holidays.
Have no criminal record (subject to verification through a criminal record check).
Demonstrate a high level of physical fitness and good overall health.
Successfully complete the Arduous Pack Test:
Distance: 4.8 km
Pack Weight: 20 kg
Time Limit: Under 45 minutes
Pass a comprehensive Physical Fitness Assessment.
Undergo and pass an evaluation by an Occupational Health Practitioner.
Exhibit the ability to perform effectively under pressure and in high-stress environments.
Adhere strictly to the NCC Group’s Alcohol, Drug, and Substance Use Policy.
Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and excellent observational abilities.
Recruitment Process

Physical Fitness Assessment: A rigorous evaluation to confirm physical capabilities.
Arduous Pack Test: As detailed above, candidates must complete a 4.8 km walk carrying a 20 kg pack in under 45 minutes.
